Showreel feedback

Grug

Veteran
Hi guys,

Just wondering if I could get some feedback on my showreel:

Feel free to be as harsh as possible, my only interest is in improving.

Cheers

Grug, Great intensity. I would like to see more range. Show us the funny guy, the sweet guy, the goofy guy, the vulnerable guy. Show us you can handle any role. You have the look now give us the all-around talent that is there. I know it’s in there. Shoot your own material if you have to.

Hey Grug ... you wanted some critique so I've got some - but I'm not going to be harsh though because it doesn't warrant that! Here goes ...

I've got a schizophrenic feel from it - I don't know whether its a directing reel or a cinematography reel. At the end you've got management contact info so talk to them and figure out what they are marketing you as. If you are trying to get cinematography work - cut all the drama stuff from your reel unless it has imagery that is worth it. Also kill all the audio off every clip and have a neutral track that says a little about your character and will hopefully work with your imagery. If its a directing reel then don't have the music at the start. Keep all audio from every clip and concentrate on drama

sorry Grug, didn't notice this was file was under acting forum(I always hit the new posts button). I thought it was your filmmaking/directing/shooting reel. Didn't know you were an actor too!

Thanks Curtis, I've recently finished a couple of lighter shorts, so I'm planning to switch out some of the more serious material soon.

Haha, what can I say J? Creatively, I get around ;)

Do you guys think the intro-montage is too long? I put it there to show a range of work, but I'm not sure if I should simply be going straight to a strong scene so far as catching casting directors' eyes.
