I'm sure the answer is no.. but,

Is it okay to have posters on the wall for films / bands in our film / music video?

I'm filming this one scene that takes place in an apartment and its just appropriate that this person would have posters up on the wall. Do I have to make up fake posters or something, unless I get permission to use the names of the films / bands on the posters?

A lot of films do it and get away with it. The problem is when you go to sell a film, you have to get errors and ommissions insurance. This is to cover the film buyer against people suing down the line for things like trademark/copyright infringement. The more risk you have in the film, the more likely the cost of the E&O insurance will be more expensive. You could always try to get permission on some independent film posters.
