Shout Outs

All about the Caption
Although I've posted many times, I've only started one thread.

So, I was thinkin'... it's about time to start another.

I'd just like to take a second to give a big shout out to Ben Franklin for 'discovering' electricity. ;D ;D ;D

I'm sure there might be another person or two that are also worthy of a shout out.

Any nominees?

Re: Shout Outs

I'd like to give a shout out to Thomas Edison (another native Ohioan) for pretty much inventing the modern world.

Re: Shout Outs

I have one:

It's the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us the freedom of press.
It's the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us the freedom of speech.
It's the soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate,
It's the soldier, not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trial,
It's the soldier, who salutes the flag,
Serves under the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who gives the protesters the right to burn the flag.

----- Shout out to my boys.

Re: Shout Outs

"Thank you..."

These are the first words of my speech for the best film Academy Award I once thought I would recieve one day.

Unfortunately, although I started to write it twenty years ago, this is the furthest I've succeeded to go. Lack of inspiration... And those goddamn cameras make me so nervous ! Not to talk about Billy Crystal's ironic presence I feel behind my back, and the perfume of Katherine Keener tickling my nostrils, too venomous to allow any non-pornographic thought to pop up in my mind. Boy ! I'm so scared I'm about to collapse here, on stage, in the eye of the whole elite of cinema and billions of telespectators.

You see, I'm not that long all the time after all (who could have believed it ?).

Fortunately, this speech has a nano-infinitesimal chance to be necessary in my life, so who gives a **** ?

So I'll make a more from-this-world shouting out :

I'd like to thank Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and John Lennon for having enchanted my soul since I'm a human being.

Re: Shout Outs

Man I love The Beatles. There will never be another band like that. First band I remember listening to as a child and one of the few things my worthless piece of **** excuse for a father actually turned me on to!

Re: Shout Outs

Ah ! Making love with Katherine Keener under a sky full of Lucies and diamonds, our tantric exploits bursting like fireflies on the invincible notes of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)"...

What's an Oscar compared to that bliss ?... Unless of course, the Oscar is the last step to that bliss, but that's another story.

Re: Shout Outs

Here Comes The Sun - The opening appregio. :o
Eleanor Rigby - Man, when that fateful dau you realize what their saying. :)

Re: Shout Outs

My favourite is "Because", a true John's bitter sweet taste dictated by the ghost of Johann Sebastian Bach's under acid influence.

My favourite lyrics : "Revolution".

Also, there's a very weird track in the White album, full of strange noises (I don't remember the name of it ; I should buy the White album again one day...)

"A Day In My Life" is also immense, as it definitely proves that John without Paul is not really John, and vice versa.
