Does anyone have suggestions for a good shoulder support system. I don't need anything to nuts. Something adjustable and good for ENG/Documentary hand held. I also want to be able to get the camera off the support in a hurry if I need to.
The best one I can reccomend is the Dv rig pro. I purchased one about 2 months ago and have never looked back. Once you have it ballanced it can be as steady as a steady cam but more comfortable than a shoulder mount, as you don't even have to have your hands onthe camera for it to sit there. IT is a little pricey but worth every penny.
I'm shopping around for a good shoulder support too.
I have a VariZoom VZ-LSP shoulder support on loan right now. It's nice, light, stable, and well made. Running about $379.95, it's much easier on the budget than the DVRig Pro. I'm probably going to order one.
The DVRig Pro looks like it could be used as a low budget Steadicam as well as a shoulder support. However, it looks big and clunky to me. It runs about $599.95
I think one key thing is to have the ab pad extension for better stability and less wrist and shoulder fatigue.
From what I've found so far, there are three affordable models that have the ab pad extension:
