Shoulder Support - Help!

Hi,

I am shooting a short coming up in the end of the month.

It will be shot on the EX1 with a Letus35 adapter using primes.

The entire film is to be shot handheld, and I am looking for something like
the EasyRig (www.easyrig.se). However I can not find a place renting this out in Vancouver.

Does anyone know of something like this in Vancouver, Canada?

Or do you have any other recommendations for this setup when it comes to shoulder supports?

Thanks,
Ben

WOW, Ive seen these before, but I never knew what it was called. I cant find prices on that site. Do you know who sells them?

BHPhotoVideo sells them - but they are expensive (about 2500$).

Want to rent one in Vancouver, but no one seems to have it!

So I am starting to look for a backup support system - any recommendations?

There is one brand called the Turtle something... I read about it in the BnH price book.

Anyway, must you need that ridiculous back support 'thingy'? Most people would shoot with normal handgrips/shoulder mount, and some just put counterweights on the back part to take weight off your arms and more on your center mass.

I like the Easyrig ;-) But a shoulder mount is what I am going to have to go for I think.

I've only heard good things about how the turtle handles.
A friend of mine says he doesn't think they became that popular because they look so silly.

It does make it hard to op and pull focus at the same time though. That may not be a problem for most people.

im glad to hear that someone wrote something good about the turtle x. there is a review on b&h for the turtle x but he trashed it. ive seen the turtle x site and they say 2000 sold so you figure they must be doing something right? there is also a newer stronger turtle x strong i wonder if this solved some of the complaints to the older turtle x? can any tell me how the turtle x worked out for them?

thank you

I'm not sure that unit works so well with a lighter cam. With a heavy cam it kind of floats - with a lighter one it will bounce I think.

I use a shoulder brace with like a steady stik type support.

I can't assure that this is what you are looking for, but the fig rig is a product with similar use.
Although it isn't a shoulder mount rig, it still is said to have a good ability to keep the shot steady. I guess just look it up on youtube if you are at all interested in it..

Why not invest in your own and sell it off after the shoot? Maybe a Zacuto system? I have some friends in Vancouver I could put you in contact with if you need to rent something. Just PM and Email me.
