Shoulder Mount System

I am getting a lot of pre-production things going now for a short film i am going to shoot his winter, and I will be needing to rent two things for the shoot:

- the panasonic anamorphic adapter
- and a Shoulder mounter system.

Can anyone recommend a brand of shoulder mount that works well with the DVX? Like what brand specifically... the type of system it is..etc... a picture of it would be even better...

I am new to the whole "camera" accessories thing so I want to try and rent the best thing possible.. and the most comfortable.. also searching for this stuff on google has been a pain since most sites I visit don't have pictures.. just random product numbers..

anyone have any insight on this?

ps: as an aside, I am living in Ontario... just outside toronto and plan on renting this from Vistek, on Queens street in T.O. incase any also has experience with them.

Re: Shoulder Mount System

i recently bought a shoulder system with my dvx. - hate it. would rather use my unopened tripod to film. the problem is, they all are sub-standard. if you want to film it seems much more stable to use either a tripod, or hold the camera with both hands, if you are walking. if you have the money use a glidecam- a shoulder system is just for walking around looking cool. :-/

Go to " Profile" in the upper strip and update your country.

So all of those actual productions that are using them just do so to be cool? I don't think so.

Re: Shoulder Mount System

I bought my DvRigPro from Terry (actually, I was the first to buy one from Terry!) and it's the best $899 CND spent!

I've taped almost a dozen weddings with it, and there's no substitute. Watch your lower-back, after 8 hours of shooting with it, you'll be sore.

Terry and dvshop.ca rock!

Re: Shoulder Mount System

so would using the dvrig pro be equivalent to say... the 'handheld' look of major hollywood production movies? caue I notice their handhelds are somewhat smooth, not as jittery, maybe that has to do with the heavy camera..

Re: Shoulder Mount System

Yes, A "full size shoulder camera hand held shoots look" is what you get with the DvRigPro.

Only you can do it for hours with very little fatique. and you have more shooting angles like chest hight, Adjusting to talents eye level... Witout banding your knees or walking on apple boxes.

The DVRig Pro is worth every penny (insert your country currency here). I got one from Danny direct and it was shipped and arrived at my studio before I even got the shipment notice. :-)

The quality is excellent, and it just plain works. I accidentally forgot my tripod one day and ended up shooting the entire day's session from the DVRig. The final piece looks fantastic.

My contest entry for November had two scenes shot using the DVRig: the movement shot of the photographer near the beginning (when she's walking) and the pan around from photo to guy taking off his shades at the very end.

If you want to see it just click here.

It's also available on MyMovieFest.com entitled "In the Eyes" if you want to go there and review/rate it.

Hope this helps!

Re: Shoulder Mount System

I'm going to get a DVRP from Rush, but for others, is there any possibility of working out a group deal with Danny, like we have for the batteries and lights?
