Should I...

Sell my Panasonic LA7200-G anamorphic on Ebay, and use the proceeds to invest in a Century Optics .7x Wide Angle Adapter? From what I understand, the Century Optics lens is not anamorphic and I would take a hit in resolution. However, the Century lens is of higher quality, and it allows for 72mm lenses.

I might invest in a 72-77mm adapter, or maybe a filter box, too...

If I got any information wrong, let me know.

Is it worth saving the the Panasonic lens and then splurge $700 on the Century Optics lens?

It is not anamorphic is correct the .7 is a wide angle lens only for 4:3 mode video not 16:9. It does not accept filters and no conventional matte box works with it. The Century Sunshade with filter holder might. What are you looking to do?

Comparing the anamorphic adaptor to the Century .7 is apples and oranges.

I'm looking for a widescreen lens that I can can use filters with.

The .7 is a wideangle adaptor not widescreen (16:9) The images taken with it have a wider field of view but this is achieved with barrel distortion and the footage is 4:3 in aspect.

So does that mean the guys in here shoot in squeeze or letterbox mode? Because I have sincerely screwed myself by trying to shoot outdoors with the 7200G w/o filters.

Hmmm I have seen that.

I don't think I use my DVX enough to warrant the Chroziel mattebox and french flags...

So this might be an option.

The Cinetactics Mattblox is a good product as a sunshade but the filter holders are pouches in which you slide the filter. This attaches just inside the front of the shade with velcro. You cannot move the HD Grads up or down and some vignetting may occur at wide zoom. Sadly there are really no afordable options for this adaptor.

Read my comments in another thread for possible options in the future.

Yes on the filters in either 3x3 or 4x4 mode depending on the model. But this does not work with either the Anamorpic adaptor or the .7 wideangle adaptor, or any teleconverter.

If you want an afforadble shade and a filiter holder look at at this.
