Should I upgrade to XP?

Ok, I know what my title says..

"upgrade"

I have windows vista home premium 64 bit.

The reason being, is because I have 4 gigs of ram.

I'm wondering if going back to XP would be an upgrade, even though I would lose usage of a small portion of my ram?

I don't know that 25% is "a small portion," but regardless...

Why do you ask the question? Is Vista unsuitable for you in some way? I use it at work, but admittedly I don't push that PC at all, so I don't notice any flaws.

Have you tried the Windows 7 RC? (May be too late if you haven't, this close to the release supposedly next month.) Reviews I've read suggest that it may be what Vista should have been to start with. I'm using that on my PC at home, which I do push, and which does have 4GB of RAM that XP was only using 75% of, and I have been happy enough with how it's worked to consider the upgrade next month...

I run XP Pro with 4 Gigs and even on a large project never get to using the full 3.5 gigs that is available.

Really depends why you feel the need to switch. Incompatible programs? Low end hardware? Without any information we can't say if you 'should' or not.

well I can't really afford to upgrade to 7 currently I already have XP but its only the 32 bit version. My version of Vista is 64 Bit home premium OEM off newegg.. Not sure you can upgrade with a discount using OEM, but I don't believe so.

I really haven't had alot of issues with it, like some have. I'm doing some tweaking and cleaning on my OS right now to make sure its not just me. I haven't had alot of problems with it, but some programs seems a bit sluggish as of late.. and it seems odd just with a few apps open I'm using 2.35 gigs of memory.
