Should I get an Xbox?

Ok, I'm having a little bit of a problem here. I'm getting sucked into all this Halo 2 hype. The problem is I don't own an xbox b/c I've always have been a huge nintendo fan. So I guess in a way I've always dispised xbox. But now I've jsut started to realize all these awesome games on the xbox are out..(I also really want to play star wars ROTOR.)
I own a gamecube and PS2 but I don't really ever use the PS2. And I don't really have the time to play games for 3 different counsels nor buy games for the 3 different systems. So ifI get an xbox I'm going to practially have to forget about the cube and ps2..but mostly the cube.

So the question is for everyone. Should I get an xbox. Is it really that much better? What should I do with the cube? I'm a huge Zelda fan. So I still need a nintendo system to play whatever new zelda game comes out. ahhh this is so mind warping.

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

Well, I can say that I carefully considered all three, and I like the games, controls, and graphics of the Xbox the best of all of them. Nintendo seems perpetually geared toward kiddie games and PS2 is more for those who like Anime-style fight and adventure games.

Of course, that's not 100% for either, but that's why I bought an Xbox.

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

haha

but yeah...its true about ps2 with anime..but I like some anime...and gamecube...well yeah kiddie I guess...I'm jsut disappointed in some of the decisions. I mean there are good games just not enough.

I agree with Spider. :D

But as far as consoles go, I like my Gamecube. It only ever gets touched when I'm rendering, or if I start a new Zelda game, but I dig it. My roomate has an Xbox, it's okay, I hardly ever play it. I just can't vibe with a system that doesn't have Link.

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

exactly. the happiest moments in my gaming life have been with zelda. The N64 is the greatest counsel ever in my opinion. But lately the Cube just hasn't been doing it. I've been renting a lot of games and none of them have really done anything for me.

So I think once I get the money I'm getting an xbox. but we'll see.

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

Just maybe you are moving past video games? I only play street fighter otherwise none of the newer games really hold my intrest anymore Splinter Cell was cool for like a week.

But than again its cheaper than a drug habit and probably safer.

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

Yes, buy an Xbox! Halo 2 will give you hours and hours of gaming goodness. As far as consoles are concerned, the Xbox has the best graphics, bar none. I would also recommend picking up the original Halo and Ninja Gaiden. Forget about the PS2. You'll see why when you play Halo 2 and Ninja Gaiden. :) Halo 2 comes out tomorrow!

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

xbox is good if you mod it to play all of the old SNES and genesis games along with MAME. You basically have a mini arcade in one machine. As for the cube, you can call it kiddie all you want but nintendo is known for their innovative titles and rarely releases the same mindless dribble over and over again. The PS2 is decent but like the PS1 when I walk into the games store and look at the wall of 100's of PS2 games there are only a handful i'd actually play. anyway, boomerang, do you play SF on XBL? If so hit me up so we can play a few matches. fighting games have been my fave genre for years and I only buy the XBL enabled fighters for my xbox. I am currently playing CVS2, Guilty Gear X2#R, and MK:deception. nothing like some online ass whippin'

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

well whatever...I got an xbox today.

Now I have a question for all you xbox livers.

Ok my computer is in this room in my house and my cable modem sits right next to my computer. Well my tv is basically on the other side of the room and my xbox is obviously connected to that. Soooo.....How do I connect the xbox to my modem so I can play xbox live. Is there a way I can connect my xbox to my computer so I can use the Computer screen as my tv?

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

You need a router and a long cable. Your local Best Buy guys can show you what you need.

I don't think there are any connectors for a computer monitor, but I may not be fully informed.

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

... bah! a cohort of mine just bought me an xbox cause he thought it would be fun to play online together.    i stopped at his place yesterday, and we blasted through the end of HALO 1.  today him and another fellow conspirator of mine are laxing off work  and blistering  their fingers playing the reserved copy of HALO2 he picked up last night at midnight.. i chuckled at him  for being such video game haed, but as i sit here now , i cant help  thinking that id rather be filling space monsters with lead.  :P

if you want to run it on your pc monitor, you need to buy a signal/cable converter.   most run betweeen 50.00-100.00 , and it wont look so great anyway cause its an analog scource undergoing further conversion .. better on a larger tv.

..if you have an HD TV , the xbox does have HD output supported by some games when using the HD breakout cable though.

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

update: played a little halo 2 yesterday.  all i can say is .. its fun.  but just as with halo 1, i actually prefer playing the single or co-op game vs all the online mayhem, because in the single player version you get swarmed by aliens and have this ominous and scared feeling like an aliens movie somtimes,  ie:   when you in a dark tunnel, and all of a sudden an alien busts through the wall, and hoards of small creatures pour out to try to eat you.   plus you can take your time and stratagize against the enemy.. its a whole other experience than all the chaos online. but of course online is fun too. you can take yourself and 3 guests online to play splitscreen all on your 1 xbox account at once. pretty fun stuff. i'll have to pick up a copy when i have some extra time to burn.

Re: Should I get an Xbox?

Yeah, I love the co-op. It's easier to make progress in the game, plus it's a great male bonding thing for me and my brother-in-law. Send the women shopping, close the shades, and frag some aliens!

Kind of a tough time of year to play video games, though. What with the Badgers on Saturday and the Packers on Sunday, and beer and such. Not to mention the 75 days straight of gutting our new house, and no access to Xbox or Internet at home. Damn, I'm tired.
