Should I edit XDCAM directly?

Not time to search so here goes.

I worked on a project today where we used a Sony PDW 335 camera. We shot in full HD 1920X1080 24p. I need to import my footage into Vegas. I was wondering what it is like to edit XDCAM (Which I believe is an MXF file) footage directly in the timeline. My computer is strong but I will definately be doing transitions, effects, greenscreening and the like (all is being shot in front of greenscreen). Just wanted to get your input on whether this is doable or whether I should think of compressing with something like CINEFORM ( The software I use to to compress un editable AVCHD footage) Just want to get your input. Thanks in advance.

Doable, yes. Smart, no. Editing XDCamEX isn't all that different from editing HDV. Another 10Mbps. No biggie, and not really taxing on new hardware.

But if you are going to be doing lots of post work, then move to a codec suited for post work. Cineform is one option, and a good one.
