Sony FS100 -- $4,000
I like the Sony FS100 because it has a Super 35mm sensor. The footage looks fantastic, comes with a microphone and XLR connection. I was thinking I could buy a wired lavalier, a couple SD cards and a cheap used bogen for around $100 and be up and running to shoot a few smaller commercials. I thought it shot 60p also, but everywhere is saying 50p, which is kind of disappointing. I also feel like the price is going to likely drop on it later this year. I'm tempted to get it because I want to get a FS700 eventually when I can afford it, for the great slow motion. And I think I can use them side by side to shoot 1920x1080 footage in a two cam setup. The profiles could be set the same and I could mix great slow motion footage.

I like the BMCC camera because of the dynamic range. You can color it and it looks fantastic. Some people are cutting the footage against Arri Alexa footage shot at 2k res and many can't tell the difference. I don't like how it handles motion though. The footage never seems very smooth. I am also very hesitant because the MFT mount is coming out and the 4k model.

I really need to buy a camera next week and will have the money next week for sure. I got commercials to shoot. A music video and need to get my commercial business up and going.

Dont underestimate the annoyance of the lack of ND in real life!

Id buy the C100 just for the ND - (I own the FS100), or just borrow a bit and get the 700 if that is what you want

I think the BMC is a different class of camera - it will always be a pain to use.. but deliver a better image - it is for more considered projects

That doesnt make it better or worse BTW

The great thing about buying a matte box and ND filters though is that they will be camera agnostic and last. So might be worth looking into picking up some used as well, so you're not shoehorned into a camera system based soley on ND filters.
