i bought a me66 back in 1823 just cus i didn't know anything about audio work and everyone said it was the mic to get. i see now that it doesn't sound the greatest. What shotgun mic would you guys recommend as a good compliment to the oktava 012 or AKG SE300b/CK93 to have a well rounded system.

AT4073a, AKG CK98, one of the Rodes??

at $550 the at4073a is the shotgun to get. The ck98 is OK, but it costs almost as much for the capsule alone as the 4073 and that would tie up your hyper power supply. The rode ntg1 or ntg 2 would be a step down from the at4073 at $250. There is a new rode shotgun at $650, but haven't seen a review I would trust yet.

I bought a sennheiser mkh 415 of ebay for around $400. You can find them for around $500 now. You re basically getting a mkh 416 for about half the price. I compared mine to a 416t and they sound very very similar.

You can also pick up a used 416 for that price, or lower (I actually got mine for $450 + $50 for a service checkup from Sennheiser). Keep your eyes peeled and you can find the bargains - they are there to be had (I just picked up 2 more B-6's for $100 each - woo hoo!)

I've always liked the Mossberg 500 Pump...12 gauge that is! :)
