shotgun mount dvx100b

I'm looking for a shotgun to mount on-camera, and just noticed that my 100b came with a "padded" mounting ring.

has anyone used this and does it isolate camera noises, etc, enough that I won't need a separate shock mount??

I'm hoping it will do the trick!

When I bought my Sennheiser shotgun, I bought the isolation mount. To be honest, I was not thrilled with it, but used it anyway. I recently got a firestore and it mounts on the hotshoe of my camera. So I moved to the padded ring mount. I did a shoot with it last week. It's probably ok for a short shotgun, but my long shotgun really flopped around in it.

I don't know that I would trust it to isolate much to be honest.

Best of luck.

I definitely advise using a shockmount over that thing that comes with the DVX. The panny ring would probably work ok when used on a slow-moving tripod, but will pick up handling noise when hand-held.

are there better shotgun shock mounts that attach to the dvx100 at the same place that the supplied mount attaches? my cold shoe is being used for my light, and the dual shoe attachments I've seen are too unwieldy - stick up too high and or out to the sides too much.

this is what i have http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=225809&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

i also have this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=653&A=details&Q=&sku=131401&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation
and what i did was i cut the bottom off right where it "L"'s out so all i have is a straight bar with 2 hot shoes so i took off the orginal dvx padded mic holder and with the same screws that hold it i put two holes on the bar and screwed it into where the dvx mic holder went and now i have a bar coming straight up with two hot shoes plus the hotshoe on the cam, so i can hold a light shotgun mic and wireless box.

the dual shoes are the only things I know of. K-tek makes a mount that attaches to the supplied mounts on an xl-2. Perhaps that can be modified to fit the dvx (it might fit without any adjustment - not certain).

The K-tek adapter K-BWC definitely does not fit the Panasonic ring mount. Just big enough to prevent the screws from threading.
Apparently K-tek came out with a new DVX adapter. I say apparently because K-tek doesnt show it on their website yet. (I have one on order from B&H but have yet to see it.)
