Shotgun Mic...

According to B&H's website, The AT897 and the Senn ME66/K6 are 2 of their best sellers. Now I am asking you all of the two which is the better mic? I have heard a lot of things about the ME66. Is the AT897 popular because its cheaper in price compared to the Sennheiser mic?

Re: Shotgun Mic...

...It all depends on your audio guy or whoever is using it. I've actually used them both and came out with pretty nice sounds. I couldn't really tell the difference between the two.  You can make a decent mic sound really clean if you hook it up to the right device (mixer, audio board) and run your audio through an audio app.(sound forge, pro tools, etc). I think either one should work depending on your locations, Indoors, outdoors, etc.

Re: Shotgun Mic...

I have heard audio samples of the two mics, and there is a difference.
The ME66 does have a very 'open' sound, wich is a bit hollow for my taste. The AT897 does have a warmer sound.

So I have chosen the AT897 because it better suites my taste. So it is al a matter of taste I think.
