here is something pretty awesome i just got in my email today.

http://www.hollywoodcamerawork.us/sd_index.html

years ago i bought Hollywod Camera Work DVD set of tutorials on (shot blocking) plus their Hot Moves tutorials (jib & dolly moves). both great packages and well worth their price tag.

this is a WOW. dynamic animations of subjects moving thru a scene with subject moving and camera moves/pannings/dolly etc. pretty deep but so was their DVD tutorials.

for free you get one scene but for $20 you get an indepth package.

excited to have this!

Toying around with it for 20 minutes and already fallen in love ..... Thanks for this tip. Nicest thing happening on my iPad since a long time.

postscriptum: My DOP bought it also - and we use it already in preparation of our next movie, starting next Wednesday. Great tip.

I got this email too. I have the DVDs of the first set which I watch often. In fact they sent out the mpgs for the DVDs so I watch on my computer too. I have learned a ton from them.

So, I am working on shot lists for a web series I'm shooting in 2 weeks as Google drawings (to share with production) and spread sheets. Until this last one, I used to do the drawings on paper, pretty much doing what this app does with floor plans. The shot lists are in spreadsheets.

I bought the app and have been working with it for about an hour. This thing is GREAT! You do the floor plans, label the shots and it spits out the floor plan and the list in PDFs. It also animates camera moves and blocking which I will definitely use for subsequent projects. Pretty good deal for $20

ipad version ideal for working in the field. Tomorrow morning we will walk through our sets and check how things might move in the room - then fine tuning maybe on our mac's. But ipad version seems the easiest way to fiddle around. Came exactly at the right point for me.... thanks again david_p.

This is fantastic. I've been using the HCW overhead camera diagram philosophy since I started making films. Last year I used Omnigraffle quite a bit to do what this app does, but this new app is a million times better. Highly recommended. Get the DVDs too if you haven't watched them-- the app won't be as useful to you unless you're very well versed in overhead diagrams.

I'll have to try it out. I really like the idea of overhead diagrams, but I've been seduced by the ShotList app and picture storyboards with the artemis viewfinder. Hollywood Camerawork hasn't steered me wrong yet though...

I'm sorry: I've been trying the demo version now for some days but I couldn't figure out weather this feature is included or not:

is there a way to save a given set design and use it as a default setting for consecutive camera set-ups?

if I'm understanding you correctly you want to be able to save a scene as a template so you don't have to start from scratch every time. you need to have the Pro version for this feature.
