Shot a movie this weekend in LA at the beach.

This is something that drives up shooting days in major film production. They wait until lighting has continuity. They'll wait until the sun comes out, or until it goes back into the clouds. Or they'll put up a BIG HUGE silk above the actors to cut out the direct sunlight. It's a problem. Not one you can solve with Color Correction.
 
If you have watched Robert Rodriguez' commentary on shooting El Mariachi, he spoke of that very issue and just said basically he had to get over it and move on. Sure there are continuity issues, but his quote was something like this - if people notice those things then you didn't do a good job of storytelling because they aren't engaged in the movie itself.

Are there creative ways of cutting or other visual techniques that might lend themselves to the story and help reduce the issue from being noticed?
