Shortcuts...using a CUT TOOL

I am looking to see if a certain shortcut or cut tool is available in FCP. I use it all the time at work with our Grass Valley editing system. On the GV system the icon is 2 scissors. I can park the playhead on a clip and if I click the right scissors, it will cut and delete footage from the right of the playhead on that particular clip and works the same way if I click the Left scissors, everything to the left of the playhead of that clip will be deleted.

The only way I know to do something like that with FCP is to use the razor blade tool to cut the clip then remove whichever section I don't want.

I dont think there is something exactly like that, but there are options.

Razor blade then select and delete the clip you don't want (shift + delete for ripple)
Edit selection (ggg) highlight your area (turn snapping on) and then delete it
