Shortcut Help

Hey guys,

I'm trying to learn shortcuts in oder to move around and work faster in PPro CS3. However, I can't find anything in the manual/help or in tutorials regarding the shortcut for selecting clips in the timeline. When ever I want to go from one clip to the next, I have to click it with my mouse. Is there even a short cut for selecting a clip in the time line?

Thanks,

Hey Mike,

I've searched the help files. I couldn't find anything in CS3 for selecting a clip in the timeline with the keys, so I looked in 2.0, and 1.5, still nothing.

If anyone has the shortcut, it would be a great help.

There is no built-in keyboard shortcut for selecting a clip in the timeline. An intrepid editor and coder fixed that with KTool. Google up "premiere pro ktool". It's a little app that will give you a number of additional keyboard shortcuts, most of which use the Windows key (I'm assuming you're on Windows, of course). One of the shortcuts is the ability to select clips in the timeline using just the keyboard. I have KTool placed in my Startup folder so it's always running when the system is booted.

Cbroughham your a life saver :)

You haven't found any crashing or other problems while using it?

Again thanks man

Nope. Been using it for many many moons. It's rock solid. Got a lot of other interesting functionality, if you can remember all the shortcuts. Enjoy!

Hey guys,

I've been using KTools for the past couple of hours, and all I can say is that it is a brilliant script/plugin. The number one reason why editor say they like Avid, over other NLE's is the fact that you don't have to use your mouse. Trust me, using the keyboard beats the heck out of using your mouse, it double's your workspeed. Highly recommended.

Again thanks Cbroughham for giving us the heads up.
