Hey guys!

Is a short slider (8 Inches) 20cm long enough for interview B roll? I am debating between the short affordable Edelkrone SliderOne or the longer Slider Plus motorized sliders.

Please help! Thx!!!

Put your camera on a towel on a table. Have someone sit at interview distance from the camera. Slide the camera 8". See it it satisfies your requirements.

IMO, definitely not.

For interviews, you need multiple feet (2-3-4+) to even start seeing and appreciating the movement/effect.

You can get away with very short sliders for up-close, slow-mo b-roll, but for interviews(sliding during questions or answers) you need several feet. My MYT Works, that is used mostly for interviews, is four feet and I have a 9 foot track system for a larger slider for larger interviews and/or live situations. You can always stop your move short, but you can't make the move longer if you don't have the track length. AND you probably aren't going to be able to use at least several inches on each end of the track so you don't have a hard stop/hit the end and you're probably not going to use the VERY beginning so you can cut into a smooth move.
