short shot with still camera

Sick!...amazing, you have a wonderful eye for...er...non action.

Thats one of the best shorts I have seen on this board.

Image Quality aside(which is very nice on its own) the story is well written, and very well produced.

the action is amazing!... I guess theres something to be said for 5fps

I especially like the sound track...

nice work...

Great Short!

Excellent story and I love the way it uses stills photographs (on many levels).

The sound almost drove me nuts though. There is no need to have it throughout like that (imho).

Still, a wonderful and original piece of work!

Chris

p.s. As much as I loved it (and I really did), it was not shot with the DVX and should really have been posted in the cafe, but not in this forum.

fantastic! You are very inspiring! So those are really all shot on a still or did you remove frames to make it loook so? If you did shoot on still, how long did it take to shoot?

Excellent man! You should enter that piece into a film festival. What camera did you use anyway?

Canon 20D.. I had to watch the credits at the end..ha.ha.

I don't know if there is an emoticon for a jaw dropping (I still don't know how to find/use them except for the basic smile) but if so I would use it here.

Awesome work! I don't know anything about the Canon 20D, but did you take a series of photos in camera like with one press of the shutter button or did you have to click for each frame?

Cool little story, I can see what Chris was saying about the shutter sound, although I DO think that it's needed. Maybe if it was softer with a score behind it, I dunno.

Still, great work! :)

Huge thanks guys! If you are interested in the proces. Yes, we shot with still camera that's capable of shooting up to 64 frames at a time at about 5 fps. The best thing is that the res of the stills was that equiwalent of HD and since the project was suppose to end up on SD then i could zoom in at will and reshape the compositions up to 80% without loosing any resolution (!). Moreover the camera can have it's ISO setting set to 3200 (!) so with low shutter speed (about 1/25) it can see more then the human eye (it gets noizy due to the 3200 ISO but still you will hardy see it). Pretty sweet stuff from technical standpoint. I suppose the most rewarding thing was that the whole production costed like $17 (the camera i got from the girl) and we could go anywhere we wanted and improvise scenes on the spot (the opening scene is actually improvised by the actors as they felt they should "meet" before and since we were waiting for someone to return from the store and there was just enough light -- i said lets do it!

Over all pretty rewarding experience.

And yeah Barry you gotta find a job and hire me...

Bravo Patryk....absolute proof that great work can be achieved on any camera. This was an inspiring short, and I hope somebody does find you a job because you've displayed to me that you could handle it no prob...Keep it up man!
