Have any guys here sold any shorts? And how much do you normally sell them for, on average?

Also, do you copyright every single one of your several shorts?

cheers,

I register all my shorts with the LOC. I have never tried selling a short, since I write them more for my own purposes to make short films; but I am going to put a few of my shorts on inktip.com when I get the time, to sell, because I just do not have the time or interest to produce some of the stories. I did pay $200 for a short this past year, but I do not know if I will end up producing it, but the story interested me a lot. Another 10 page short I really liked, tried to buy it for a few hundred dollars, from an Australian writer, off inktip.com, but she wanted to get into royalties for future mobile phone sales and all that which complicated it so much I walked; not worth the hassle for a short film. Many writers of shorts, at least on inktip.com, will sell their shorts for a few bucks, or free if it will be produced, others want a few hundred, etc. I think it comes down to what each party feels it is worth; as a buyer, I respect the time and creative energy a writer puts into even a good 5-15 minute or more short.
