You mean the 35mm lens? or the camera?

With all the set ups it varied but we tried for around f4 most of the time. At the bus stop it was so bright I think it was more like f6. At the diner towards the end of the day we had to open way up.

I actually enjoyed the short pretty well. The DIY adapter you have suffers from terrible CA though as well as really poor edge to edge sharpness and it ruined some of your shots. A real shame because everything else was really well done IMO.

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it.
As far as the CA, some of it, esp on the wider shots, is from the cheapo zoom lens we had to use on a couple shots. The adapter does have edge softness but I opted to use it instead of a more professional one because I thought that softness contributed to the mood of the piece.

I think the people that advocate thinking of adapters in terms of film stocks are totally right. I plan on keeping the one I made but, for example, on my next project we're going to use an sgpro.

Certainly ever adapter has it's own interesting characteristics. I'm moving from a DIY adapter to an SGblade (shipping on Friday! Soooo excited) and I will still be keeping the DIY adapter.

What lens were you using? I shoot on a set of Canon FD primes (24/2.8, 28/2.8, 35/2.8, 50/1.4, 85/1.8, 100/2.5, 135/2.5) and for the price I paid I really don't think you can put together a much more solid and complete set.

I do think in the next 12-18 months, assuming my paying gigs really ramp up, I will start replacing my glass with something like the Zeiss ZF series.

Again, props on the short as it was quite entertaining even if a bit slow at times.

The Park scene is a Zeiss 50mm. Also there's no CC on that scene, just a little s curve in the profile on the hvx. I'm really happy with the performance of that lens. I also have a Ai 35mm and a 25-85 zoom. The 35 is pretty good but the zoom is pretty crappy. I bought the 35 pretty much because of how crappy the zoom is.

I also have a Canon AE-1 with a 1.8 FD 50mm that I use for still photography. It's one of the sharpest lenses I've ever shot but I like the color out of the Zeiss better.
