Im sorry I just realized (after I made the post) there was a whole thread for posting work. If i could delete the thread i would, cant seem to be able to though.

Two of my friends and myself collarberated to make this short film for the 64seconds.com amd contest. The first stage of the contest allows the public to vote on the videos and narrow the selection down to the top 25. We worked way hard on this and only had a short time to film it (only 2hrs in that restarant) and the editing process was the most insane thing i have ever done, we had about 15audio tracks for the diffrent sounds! so if you guys could lend us a hand and give us a nice ratting that would be awsome!

to view our short: go to www.64seconds.com

click on "the show"
then go to "search entries" and type in "waiter" and it'll come right up.

critiscem and feedback would really help obviously especailly on the camera work...we had to make a lot of compromises in making this one cause of the time so I'm sure there will be things to comment on.

Thanks alot guys, I hope you enjoy the video and gave us a nice ratting

and of course this was shot on a lovely dvx100a, I have had the camera for about a month now and love it!

the first thing I said is i want feedback if you vote thats neat but I would like to here what people have to say about it more than anything else. It is the 2nd project I've really worked on and the first with the dvx so im looking to improve my skills. Please dont be a jerk.

I just watched it.
My opinions.

1. I think it looked good
2. Some of the angles of the customer were coming from a low angle when the waiter is standing up. I would have shot the customer from a higher angle so as to give the impression that it's the waiter.
3. When the waiter get upset at the end I would have done maybe a closeup or a dolly in of the waiter face

Looks good though keep up the good work

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

I'm a first time poster and I'll give you my opinion.

1) You are lucky you have friends. The idea was nice up until the end.
Sound, what I heard of it was good, wish I had a sound studio.

2) Camera work was de-cent but considering the type of equipment you have
access to, no cigar.

Why?

I was watching this with a 54kps connection, which is hard to do.
Right around the frame towards the end where the long haired
gentleman is sitting in front of the set of two curtains, the download
stalled.

It gave me time to think what should be done differently, and I thought
shorter cuts building up to the end.

Voila seconds later that is what you did. The close ups could have had
greater impact. I'm a go for the cheap thrills, more punch, maybe even closer or
faster cuts, different expressions, type of person, but that wasn't what gave
me the aw shucks feeling.

In the end it wasn't the camera work that was weak, it was
the story. Thanks for making it a male waiter, by the way.

The story built up to a waiter with his hands over his ears? Either a different
ending or more emphasis on him wanting silence. I have tons of ideas.
By the way that doesn't mean you can't win in this contest.

Also, I'm a lighting freak and spend alot of time at the ASC reading about
how lights were set up. Some things can be said with light and the lack of
it, pay more attention to it next time. If you haven't seen the Kodak Master
classes on video, they pay alot of attention to lighting, you should.

I'm still beating myself up that I lost the only three 325 watt photo lights on
the 2nd day or my shoot, on the first day my crap video camera broke. I'm
incredibly poor.

Ya, I've a film at 64seconds.com

PS. To the jerk, I joined dvx because as soon as I go through the other
camera threads, I want to direct some questions at people who do both
Kodachrome Super 8 and Digital shoots, because that is what I'm doing next.
Thanks to a donation from my Kodak rep that needs to be shot asap.
