Hi there, my HVX is currently in for a service and I miss it dearly. Thought I would use some of the money I have saved to treat it and myself to some new gear for the HVX.

I would love to start using my canon EOS lenses on my HVX but there are a couple of good 35 mm adaptors to choose from and its hard to choose. I would like to get a nice new tripod, but tbh its not a priority as I work in a production company here in Dubai and we have a couple lying arround.

New mac would be nice but I can use the one in the office. but hey i could use some more storage so i could record more without having to dump the P2s, i only have 2 4gb cards..

A matbox could be cool but I can do allot in post and think getting a 35mm adaptor would have a greater effect.

So lets get too it. The budget is 2700 US Dollars... The aim is to get a couple of nice additions to my kit now. and next month something else.. Im slowly going to add more and more to my HVX..

Priority is 35 mil adaptors and P2 or Firestore storage, or any cheaper solutions.. How can i get more from my HVX with this budget, i have 3 EoS lenses atm and could get annother 1200 dollars if necesary by selling some stuff.

Give me a shopping list please! your opinions.. what you would reccomend. .. the upgrade stages i should take, what to buy first, what to buy second..

HVX Users... its over to you!

Letus 35 Extreme Adapter $1200
Rail System Indirails or cavision $140-$200
Indifocus Pro follow Focus $400
Ikan HD Monitor $800

Total About $2600

Having a portable HD monitor for focusing is a must for an adapter on the HVX. A follow focus is great too, but you could skip on the follow focus and get a used 8gb P2 card for about $500. That's my list good luck to you.

A perfect and logical example.. thank you. Never thought about an HD monitor as of yet. Thought i would need one to turn the image round but with the Letus u dont have to. Allot of people have opted for the M2. Any reason for this?

I was going to purchase the M2 until the Letus 35 extreme was released, look in the 35mm adapter section of the forum there is tons of info on both. The M2 has been a around for a while and is a solid choice, the Letus Extreme is a new option and a lot of people are taking the plunge with the letus including myself. I should have mine in another week or so and I can't wait. Flipping the monitor is not complicated if you use an adapter that needs that, but having a good monitor is crucial for getting accurate focus with an adapter.

Is the Letus sealed well and able to accept EOS lenses?
Will Those rods at 18 inch be able to deal with an HVX, Letus extreme, Lens, Matbox. and be able to acept all perfecty. worried that there wont be support for my lenses, i dont want the Letus to have to bear the weight of a heavy lens. Also would i be able to fit the rails and the whole rig basicaly to a varizoom shoulder support. The one with the handles I forget its exact name. Id like to be able to do some run and gun with the full rig if possible

think im gonna get a 32gb P2 when it comes out, as for the 35mm adaptor, rods and follow focus,... im still on the fence, i need something that will be good for out here. Something very reliable, cos once it gets to dubai would be very hard to get it fixed or replaced.

Is brevis also an option?

Ok, after consulting some people ive realised that my priority product would be a good mattbox. So what it looks like i need is.

- Mattbox and some filters
- Rods and support
- 35 mm adaptor

Any links to forums on this, or anyone have any recomendations regarding this. For 35mm i would definatly go for the Letus Extreme, results are superb. The Rods, indirods look good.

but a matbox for that settup im not sure, would have to be one that would work for both 35 mm adaptor with lens and the standard HVX lens. is that possible and if so, who has the solution, il try research myself, but the support from this comunity is too good that i cant help but throw it out.

Budget is still 2700 us dollars. What do yall think? the 35 mm adaptor can wait if necesary. Id rather get a rly nice matbox and supports now and work with the lens from the HVX. It is still beautiful in itself. Nothing too fancy tho dont wanna blow the whole budget on it.
