shooting xmas lights; 16mm

Im new to 16mm for the most part.

I've got a roll of
Fuji 500 Color
Kodak Vision2 250D

if I wanted to shoot xmas lights without additional lighting, would 500 work with f1.6
or would I be fine with 250D at 1.6

which film would be better for this?

If you are shooting at sunset/dusk you would get away with the 250. If you are shooting at night you definately have to go wide open with the 500 and I would not even add an 85filter(save yourself the 2/3 stop). Although most street lights and porch lights would be closer to 3200 anyway so there should not be much of a color correction needed.
