Hi all,
I'm a wedding videographer & film many couples' wedding dinners in 5 star hotels.
In my country the weather is extremely predictable.....it rains almost every evening!
Usually, I like to shoot several establishing shots of the hotel in which the wedding couple's dinner will be at. But very often during the evening, it starts to pour. So I'm unable to capture outdoor establishing shots of the hotel
*sob* *sob*.
What I was thinking of doing.....just an idea.......is to set aside one or two full days to drive to all the 5 star hotels in my location, during perfect/ideal weather & shoot as many good establishing shots of the hotels, at my own leisurely pace. This will ensure I have more time to compose good shots & set the camera settings (exposure, zebra, white balancing, etc). Thereby, I can later upload all these location shots to my NLE & render them as avi source video formats to burned unto DVD archives, which I can later conveniently pull out at a later date when a wedding dinner happens to be at that hotel.
I may even want to take the same composition shots three times, but vary the aspect ratios. For eg. the same composition shot in 4:3 & the same compositon shot in 16:9 & in squeezed mode, then archive these to DVD as well. So that if clients request their wedding DVD be produced in 16:9, I already have the establishing shots in the correct aspect ratio. Or shoot the same composition shots in 24p, 24PA, 30i & 60i.
What do you all think of this idea of mine? Maybe you've already thought about it? Maybe you've thought of an even more creative idea? By doing this, I don't have to let the weather prohibit me from getting the best possible establishing shots I need. Let me know your comments. Thanks.
Andrew
P.S. - I could also save a few $100 buying a Kata rain cover for my DVX. LOL
