shooting on a cruse ship with HMIs

I've never experienced it... But I assume you'll be fine, cruise ships are so big they don't sway around much so you won't have to even bother with many sandbags.
And with a small Honda 2k silent generator its almost run-n-gun

I just hope people know you're bringing that stuff onboard
 
The only snag is the heat - virtually all areas of modern cruise ships don't just have particle type smoke detectors they also have rate of change heat detectors, and HMIs are often high up on stands, and can heat up the top layer very quickly, setting off alarms. I'd check well in advance if the ship can cope with HMI lighting in the public areas.
