Shooting my first short film

My biggest concern is proper coverage.

I will plan to shoot the whole thing with one camera (DVX100). How often should I be changing my camera positioning? I have experience as an editor and one rule I have always followed is that every cut should bring new information with it. Do you take the same approach when shooting?

Another question---I have a fight scene in the script. Is there a trick for fake blood?

Make sure that you get good coverage and don't forget cutaways!!! Your pictures should tell a story so don't just choose a random shot, think of what you are communicating and decide on your angles and choices that way...simply put, you can show power by having a low angle or show the opposite by shooting down on a subject...there are countless variations but none should be chosen simply because they look good...it should be because it best communicates the point of the shot or scene...

I cover this more extensively in the book, "A Guerilla In The Midst".

Good luck with your project!
