Shooting in sunlight on a budget

I'm making a short film this summer, and I want a "sunlight" look for it all, meaning that the film should looks like a day on the beach as much as possible.

Even though I'm shooting in Denmark, where our summer is colder than most other places, we still have pretty harsh sunlight in august. So my question is this: What's the recommended setup for doing this? I don't have the funds for lights than will work, so I guess I'm stock with indirect light. Any ideas?

Buy a reflector or bounce card and use it to fill in the shadows on people's faces. Or shoot early morning or late afternoon when the sun isn't as harsh.

You can buy foam core board on line. Try to get the 1/2 inch it'll hold up better. I made several 4x4 for myself. I bought 4x8 sheets of 1/2 foam core and cut them in half. I bought rolls of rosco silver and gold reflector foil and glued it on the board. Then taped the edges with gaff tape. So now I have some white on one side and silver on the other, some white/gold and some silver/gold. Make a box to store them in so they won't get damagaed and they'll last.
