shooting in HD/SD: differences?

I've done a good amount of stuff in SD, and also shot something on HDV.

- What would you guys say the main differences are between shooting SD and HD, in the production phase (without considering the obvious issues related to acquisition and editing)?

I've been browsing some job opps lately and I was wondering why many ask for specific HD experience..
the only thing that comes to my mind is that focusing would be more sensitive bcoz of the improved resolution... something else?

mostly darker areas is where I pick it up.

rules would be to make sure everything has light thrown on it, cause you can darken all you want in post. If you've got the HVX, use the black press gamma curve and tone down the detail level on any camera you use. If the camera has zebras, keep your highlights and skin tones around 70-75%

Another reason people may be asking for HD experience, is that the focusing in HD needs to be so much more precise. That's all I can come up with.

maybe it's to weed out the people who don't what what things are. like the kind of people who buy HD disposable film cameras because they're HD!

They also want you to be up on current technology. Knowing scene files, different types of acquisition and capture, storage of info, and transfer of footage.
You ALMOST need an engineering background to run some of the new cameras, or at least a decent memory of where everything is and how it affects/effects your shooting.
HD shooting opens up so many other areas of concerns. With newer technology and finer details, shooting HD is closer to shooting film than it used to be.
Lighting nuances, more attention to detail, color analysis..edt.
When shooting HD, after shooting nothing but standard def, that little camera operator inside of you, really makes you want to test what your made out of.
It really makes you want to shoot big league assignments.
