Shooting in DVCPRO HD and DVCPROHD Compression

If i shot on a Varicam with DVCPRO HD tapes is the "Dvcprohd" compression in FCP actually compression? I have two sequences of the same thing, one with DVCPROHD and one with NO compression. The DVCPROHD one actually looks better than the NO compression one...... ??

When you capture into FCP using the DVCPRO 720p setting via firewire, you are adding no further compression. Just like capturing DV, all it is is transferring data...since DVCPRO HD is a digital format. So simply choose the DVCPRO HD 720p Easy Setup that matches the frame rate you shot, create a new sequence and start capturing and editing away.
