Shooting in Asia - 50hz lights

Hi, first post on this forum (which is great), and I may be posting this in the wrong section!

Anyway, I'm going to be shooting in Asia over the summer with an NTSC camera and my concern is about fluorescent light flickering in the indoor locations.

From what I understand, if I shoot at 1/100, I should be ok (with the trade off being losing a stop or two), correct?

Thanks for any help with this question or pointing me to the right section to post it.

fishcough Asia is a very big place some countries are 50Hz and some are 60Hz. Where exactly will you be going and with what camera?

Noel. We'll be shooting in through out China, and from what I've read, I can expect 50hz there. Not 100% on the camera yet, but mostly likely a Canon XH A1 or XF100. NTSC in either case. Thanks.

fishcough yes China is 50Hz. But you dont need to go up to 1/100th on the shutter. 1/50th should do the tick.

Thanks, Noel. Unfortunatly, 1/50 isn't an offering on these cameras (I thought that was an NTSC vs. PAL thing, but maybe not). I'm planning to shoot 60i so I'm stuck with 1/30, 1/60, 1/75, 1/90, 1/100, etc... (I could do 24F to get 1/48, but I think that wouldn't matter). So, figured grab a multiple of 50 and hope to avoid any flicker/roll...
