Shooting in a Garage at home...

Just wondering if anyone ever cleared out there garages at home and did a shoot inside there. I am thinking about setting up a Green screen in the back of mine and using it as a make shift sound stage type set up. I am sure my neighbors would be wondering what I would be doing with a whole bunch of lights and green screen in there!

Yes, I have shot footage in my garage after cleaning it out etc. The only problem I encountered was that generally (single car) garages are quite small and provide little space for lighting and camera equipment. I was forced to re-shoot the footage in my living room after the garage proved to be to uncomfortable and limited...Unless of course you are using a 2-or more car garage, then I assume you'd be fine.

Yes, I have done green screen and dolly stuff in a garage. It was fun, and it worked for us. We shot thru the door leading into the garage, for a shot that required some depth.
Good luck!

We shot a lot of a movie in a guy's basement. Most of the basement was unfinished and the joists above us helped out a lot because we could use maffer clamps to attach lights to without having to worry about lights stands getting in the shot.

I'm a basement and living room person myself. In fact my current greenscreen setup at the moment is in my living room. We actually have a 5500 sq. ft soundstage at work and I found I get better accoustics in my living room. Go figure!

My very first live action crappy student film shot in 1976 had one of the main sets, (a spaceship bridge), cobbled together in a friends rec room.

here's a few pics:
