Shooting from a screen

Question: How do I shoot images off a computer monitor?

I've tried it, but get that sawtooth edge effect, and the swirling line effect, making the footage worthless.

So how do I shoot off a computer screen? Do I shoot in 60i, is that it?

Experiment with the 60i and see.

Do you have to actually shoot the screen or can you composite in post?

Nah, just set the shutter to 1/60. Make sure the refresh rate on the monitor is set to 60Hz as well.

If the previous suggestions don't work, try using syncro scan and tap into that sweat spot, or set your monitors refresh rate.

Another option is to use your computer out video source and take it into a deck or if standard def is ok, into your camera.
