Here' something I've wondered if it can be worked out for a long time. Say your story needs some footage from somewhere you can't afford to go, but somebody with a camera is already there. Can we figure out a practical way to trade favors where I shoot something that guy needs and he shoots what I need?
Since I need his location but he probably doesn't need mine, (but might need someone else's location) maybe a clearinghouse can be set up online where a participant gets points for supplying somebody's need and they can be cashed in by getting footage from some other participant in the exchange whose footage they need. Why not. I'd play.
My movie needs some shots on the street in Iraq. No actors, no action, just what would amount to stock footage. Anywhere from Iraq to Morocco would probably work fine. Hurt locker used Jordan for Iraq. So all I have to do is find and talk into it somebody in one of those places. But how? An online exchange sounds quite doable. Maybe through here?
