Shooting Food....

Couln't you fabricate water droplets with Elmer's glue? Or something of that nature?

I agree about the cheese not so melty, and Ketchup and Mustard.

You can brush some simple syrup (made just with sugar and water) on the bun and when dried, it will look like it's moist.

And of course, my own humble addition:

I think this one looks pretty good (rapier's). No offense, Issac, but yours looks kind of like a nuclear-charged burger. Way too much yellow (could be my monitor, though).

You should make a cheeseburger that has 3 patties that are toped with fries and call it "The Bus Burger". You should serve it with an Iron City to keep with the Pittsburgh feel.

I like how you added the yellow tint. Makes you feel hungry after looking at the image. Great advertising technique!

Rapiers one looks the best to me - the most natural. Thats amazing technique!! Rapier, mind sharing your method? :D

Sure. I usually break things down into what they are supposed to be, and then build that. with that methodology, we have this:

1. The burger is the subject of interest.
2. Lettuce is supposed to be green green, tomatos are supposed to be red, the bun is suppoles to be goldn brown and so on. Even though those parts ARENT usually those colors, they eye expects it in a pic. So, give it to them.
3. Unneccesary portions of the pic which may clutter the veiwspace need to be eliminated.

With that in mind, I heavily desaturated the backgdound to pop the colors of the burger withought having to oversaturate it. I also desaturated the plate, about half as much as the background. Then, I isolated the specific regions I wanted to aler and put them on their own layer. That gave tme the freedom to tone down a color if need be. Then, a slight Curves on top to increase the contrast.

There is the file. Normally, I would have used adjustment layers with their masks to change the color of what I wanted, but I didn't do that in this one.
