Shooting Day for Night

Seeing as how you can't search for the term "day" or "for" here, I'm having a little trouble finding any tutorials done by members.

I am also searching google at the moment, so I'll post what I find.

If this is the wrong forum, please move it. Thanks.

What NLE are you using, Kholi?

I probably misunderstood the purpose of your question. It appears you are asking about how to shoot it, not how to convert it in post.

I have had good results converting day for night using the Magic Bullit plugin in FCP. The thing you HAVE to stay away from are blown out highlights. It kills the illusion. Rapier_100a mentioned shooting on an overcast day. You're here in SoCal so that might be a little hard. Whatever you can do to lower your light level is going to help.

Alright thanks for the tips. I've seen some other tips on day for night as well... just have to watch out for anything that might give it away.

Good thing is that I might only need one day for night segment, and it's pretty enclosed.
