Shooting B&W

I've never used the DVX before, however have done most of my work on the Canon XL2. Anyways, i am shooting a short that I want to be in B&W. My question is, should I shoot in B&W with the DVX or should i shoot in color, then edit it to B&W using Avid?

Re: Shooting B&W

I know this isn't the lighting forum, but following the thread; if you know you are going to be in B&W for the end product, should you light it differently?

^^^Yes that is something else i forgot to mention in my original post. Any thoughts?

Re: Shooting B&W

Remember that with black and white, every value is based on luma levels, not chroma levels. So, an orange shirt with blue jeans can appear gray on gray - if you want a difference in the apparent colour, have the brightness be different, not the colour.

If you have a black-and-white monitor, though, you can see what it will look like on the spot - and this would let you be 100% sure that you'll be satisfied.
