Shooting airshow

I'm going to be shooting at a air field party which will include a airshow. Fly bys etc. I'm using a DVX100b. I would like to shot 24pa. For people, interviews and other events 24pa should be ok, but what about fast moving airplanes?

I wondering if it just better do leave the camera on a tripod and just tape as the plane goes by. Not try to pan. Or should I shoot the airshow in 60i?

Think in terms of film. Top Gun, Pearl Harbor, Memphis Belle, etc. All shot in what would be your equivalent of 24pa. Yes, you can do it.

60i will certainly look different. I think it's a matter of aesthetics.
