Shooting a "POV" or subjective camera..

Anybody? anything?;)

Did anybody tried? I quess stock lens on DVX are not good enough so wide lens should be used?
The thing am buggin the most is camera rig? is there anything thats made just for that purpose?

In my mind, I think you could figure this out on a rainy Saturday afternoon's worth of testing. It doesn't take much, I promise. With good camera operation and rehearsal, you don't need any special rigs...

Unless you consider a handheld/shoulder rig special. The only thing that makes POV shooting different than regular shooting is the amount of movement - and its not necessarily "cam" movement in the traditional sense of the word, but more "body" movement. That is, in other words, you're making the camera move as if it was part of the body of the subject.

Ryan's right though, it's pretty simple. Just pretend the camera is the subject's eyes and boom, ready to shoot.

Thanks guys for your replys..

Finnegan, thats what am trying to achieve, for camera to move like a part of a body..and for that part i wasnt sure how to mount / rig the camera, because i wanna get the feeling like your looking through some one else s eyes.. and the thing that bugged me was.. how do you shoot it if you need to see the both hands in shoot doing various action.. you would suggest some sort of shoulder rig?

Looks like a combination of the subjects hand holding (or at least partially)and an operator hand holding. I'd bet the camera was a D90 or Lumix DSLR.

Check out this video and poke around online for some background. I remember seeing some behind the scenes images from this project that showed a simple plywood arm that mounted to the actors at their mid-section:

If you'll notice in the Blanco video, the subjects have at least one had out of frame when the camera is on them from straight-on. I'd bet they had a lightweight arm attached to their midsection for the camera and LCD screen that was pointed at the talent while rolling on that stuff.
