I'll be shooting a short video for a radio station promo of a band in low light. Using an HVX200.... any tips on setting the aperture? Any techniques that I should try to make it stand out?
Well if your in low lighting, your going to end up on one of the largest apetures the hvx has available (larger apeture = smaller f stop number)
I'd see if you can get into the location before hand. If you have no possibility of adding light to the scene, I'd work at the largest aperture you have, @ no less than 1/48th per second (to make sure you don't end up with motion blur, unless you specifically want it)
In my experience, the DVX / HVX line are pretty good in low light. There should be plenty of exiting light to capture an acceptable image. Just stay away from gain entirely. Good luck with it
