shooting 16:9 and 4:3 on same tape

Is it possible to shoot 16:9 footage and 4:3 footage on the same field tape? If so, is the process as simple as just changing the settings?

I thought the deal in Utah was that one camera could use multiple tapes, but one tape could not be used in multiple cameras.
