Shockmounts and Softies

When I went into B&H today I was going to buy A)a softie-type windscreen(not a zeppelin or hard windscreen), B) A good isolating shock mount for my Senn MKH-416, C) ability(adapters) to place on shoe and pistol grip.
I was looking at a Lightwave Equalizer 106, the LIghtwave Minimount, and both the Universal Shoe Adapter and teh Pistol Grip Adapter. In the future I could always buy the Boom Adapter, too.
The helpful audio guy there gave me different suggestions. First, he showed me the Rycote 18cm Medium Hole Short Hair Softie. This was nice b/c it was less obtrusive and less likely to get in the camera's line of view when mounted on the camera. However, I had a couple questions which I now only see online:
A)It does not specify use for the MKH-416. He tried it out in the store, but I'm not sure there was enough space left over for shock mount attachment, b/c the Rycote Sofite seemed long, but I could be totally wrong.
Then in shock mounts, he suggested the K-Tek SM Shock mount, which has 3 different spots to screw in third-party attachments(3/8"). It seemed nice, and he said it was better than the lightwave. Also, it does not require a separate boom attachment. He said for pistol grip(BTW, he mentioned that pistol micing is as good(done well) if not better at times than boomin) just to buy a Remote Audio Universal Mic Foam Handgrip and for Shoe mounting to get a Testrite FSA8 Flash Shoe Adapter. However, I had some issues with this:
A) Multiple company mixing isn't always as good as the all-lightwave set-up.(Except for the windscreen, I WOULD rather use the Rycote one)
B)What are your opinions on the K-Tek versus the Lightwave? And what about the K-Tek GPS?
C)Also, the third-party foam grip and the shoe mount he suggested seem sorta cheap and much less desirable when compared to their lightwave counterparts. Does it really matter, thou? However, they are cheaper.
D)And last, if I went with the K-Tek, do I need this K-Tek Windshield adapter if i'm only using somehting like a softie, and not a hard zeppelin-like windscreen?
E)If not, what do yo guys suggest for me: Remember, i'm using it on cam and pistoling, maybe boomin in the future. I have a MKH416. I need a shockmount and an attachment for the shoe and a pistol grip. I need a decent softie/equalier that will work in NYC streets under normal weather conditions(not heavy wind), and not get in the way of the shot when mounted on cam. (thank god the 416 is a lot smaller)
THanks, I know I have lots of annnoying questions, but I just want to be sure be4 I buy.
