Shock mount question

Hello Listers
Suppose you were recording with a Oktava and wind protection and the mic was mounted on a stand or a fixed boom. Read: not on the cam or being handled during recording. Would you still want or need shock mounting or would a cheapy clip mount be OK?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

In a totally still room, with a mic mounted on a fixed boom, I may just use a foam or even a bare mic... but I'd ALWAYS use a shockmount.

Thanks Matt. I really appreciate the major (and minor) contributors here. In another field, I was king encyclopedia, and people looked to me for answers. It is a great concept of humanity to pay the knowledge forward.

Oleg suggested that indoors, the Oktava would work fine with Shure A81 foam screens. If I went that way, could someone suggest an economy shock mount. This would be used on a stand only, not handheld. Soundroom has a Sabra SS1 series which is adjustable for length which might be good considering the short length of the Oktava.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I use the Rode and it has very good isolation plus it can mount in hot shoe for on camera use or on boom pole. Needs no additional hardware. Works with my Oktava and BBG and my Rode NTG-1 with K-Tek fuzzy. Cost is around $50.

For indoors, I use the AT 8415 with the k-tek rubbers (or whatever you call them). It works great with my Octava. Outdoors, I'm using the k-tek shockmount in a Sennheiser blimp (with the adapter kit). But, everyone is saying great things about the new k-tek k-zep, so you might take a look at that.
