I guess they thought when designing this trick that the general public was stupid. VERY stupid. They have a continuous shot until the moment before he goes through the glass (notice after this shot he doesn't touch the paper again). Anyway, I just wanted to ***** because this ass is making tons of money off of his lame illusions. Houdini would be rolling over in his grave : (

P.S. Don't you love the "stunned" reactions. They probably got an A&E ballcap and mug for draining an hour out of their life for a half-ass magic trick.

Call me stupid, but I can't figure out how he does it. :embarasse

I think it's a lot of trick photography. Sumfun is noting that the shot is continuous UNTIL he takes his shoes off. Then the editing kicks in, which allows for the shot to be tampered with and the glass to be fooled around with, which makes for the next shot. something along those lines.

Penn and Teller recently did a cool magic show where they did a buncha water related tricks and then showed you what they did after the trick. They stated matter of factly that there is no such thing as magic and that they were just doing tricks, but the art is figuring out the tricks and making them work perfectly. That is pretty cool to me, that they dont' take themselves super serious and they don't put on this Copperfield act that's all dark and mysterious. During this special, they would cut to commercial and show footage of a shocked crowd that said things and whatnot, and they would tease "next, find out what they're so amazed by!" Then it shows them just going up to a crowd and essentially directing them into amazment (ie, no tricks at all). It was funny, and kinda rips on that guy and David Blane, which I like. Oh yeah, locking yourself in a box is so freaking magic!

Anyways, that guy in question is named (I think) Criss Angel. His show's called Mindfreak or something. I saw an episode where he puts himself in a box handcuffed, and then the box is placed on a conveyer belt leading into a wood chipper. The trick doens't turn out as planned, and he is shot into the wood chipper, blood and guts ensue. Then he pops out of the dump truck the wood chips are placed in.

Long story short: I don't think we're supposed to take him seriously.

David blane is more of a mental magician...

they guy has the craziest mental prowess I've ever seen. Waht he does isn't ALL magic tricks, but stunts, which is pretty cool.

and yah, there is no way he can walk through glass

Are we seriously going to be censored? poo pooiest?!?! But the trick was the shittiest I tell you!!SHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT and a piece of poo on the side!

whats with the weird stutter when he hops out...looks like the glass does a little shimmy...i dunno...that stuff always seems cheesy...why doesnt he do it without the paper?

Maybe I'm out of the loop on this one, but what the hell's the debate about glass being solid or liquid? Is he some sort of retard? Oh yeah, that paper he found is the exact size of the window, pretty convenient. I'd like to see him go through a post it! Oh wait....are those solid or liquid? I always get that confused.

Glass actually has liquid properties. Take a look at the windows in really old houses. The bottom of the window is actually thicker than the top from years of gravity pulling on it.

I'm a magician myself as well as a student and filmmaker. I personally hate David Blane. He puts no emotion into his magic.... it just ticks me off... the guy who did the trick on the video wasnt bad either... i can probably do that trick.. i'm pretty sure i know how he does it.

It's pretty cool, yeah, but I think the fashion in which it was filmed took a lot out of it. The whole "continious shot" thing, which led to a quick cut and two "continiuous" shots was kinda a drag. I'm sure they could've done whatever they did within that cut in post and made it look like a continuous shot.

Where is the Masked Magician when you need him?,

Strange huh.. that it always need to be covered so that the "magic" can happen ;)

This is another urban myth apparently. Old glass was imperfectly made and was installed heavy side down (normally) as it is more stable that way. That's what a chemist firend of mine said anyway, and she is seriously clever.

I hate the way David Blaine tries to pass off his fairly mediocre tricks as "magic" and supernatural. He leveitates on a crane and his card skills aren't all that great... not that I can do better, but I know a few people who can.

The window pane trick is clearly heavily staged. If it isn't a camera trick, then whilst he is taking off his boots, the guy inside (that you see when they run up to the window) takes out the piece of the window. I guess the guy then sticks a section of the window back in place after he passes through. The paper (which just happens to be the perfect size!) covers over the joins and lack of glass.

You guys realize, don't you, that being there's no such thing as "magic," pointing out that there's some kind of "trick" is . . . beside the point?

All of the card tricks that he does I own. They're simple to learn and impossibly easy to do. Seriously a 10 year old can do them. I'm not sayin they're huge illusions at all, in fact when I perform the tricks to my friends I perform them in a way that makes it look great when the trick is done but it isn't a HUGE thing. I give them a few seconds to register what happened then I move on. The great part is that they don't think its a huge illusion. So basically what I'm saying is that I agree with you.

Glass is classified as an amorphous material/substance. Meaning it is solid but still flows at a VERY slow rate. Learned that in science class back in highschool.
