hey guys and girls, i have seen this effect used many times from people on this site and many others. its called shine. i found the site where you can download a trial and then if you like it you can buy it. I was surprised when i saw it costed $100. here is the link to it. http://www.trapcode.com/products_shine.html
if anyone has this effect, can you please tell me how you got it and if you paid then how much. thanks alot
 
Shine is a great plugin (for a light ray effect). Everything from Trapcode is very high quality and I recommend all the time. I'm especially fond of particular. Just use them with moderation and you'll be good :)

I have to agree with Kai-- the Trapcode stuff is top notch & reasonably priced. Plus, you see it all over the place-- NBC was abusing the hell out of that suite of plug-ins last season!

As for how to get it, just go to Trapcode.com. I'm not sure if there are any resellers... I think it may be a download/pay over the internet thing. Not that I would hesitate to buy from Trapcode directly-- I've done it in the past & have always been impressed by their presence over in the Creative Cow forums.

Great guys, great products, great prices. I've refused to pull the trigger on Particular just yet; I'm waiting to see if Wondertouch manages to get the long-delayed Particle Illusion plug-in version up and running for AE before spending the money.

you can do effects like that with AE6.5 too. there is an effect, but I am not sure about it's name.
 
Trapcode stuff is very cool, but definately needed only for specific situations. Shine is nice...I like to use it for subtle effects like god rays from the sun on a cloudy day. Lux is another cool one as well.

Particular is definetly worth $300, you'll make it back after one spot..
 
Id give shine a 5 outa 5... but its used on almost any motion title now.... So bad news is if you use it you wont be the first. Good news you wont be the last

Better news if you can find a new/unique way of incorporating it.
