Shimmering title effect

I have some titles that I created in photoshop that I have imported into Vegas. I want to create a kind of shimmering effect, where a subtle glowing light will go from the first letter of each word and shine across to the last letter of the word (a shimmering effect from left to right). It will be about a 3-4 second effect.

What is the best way to go about creating this effect?

Thanks.

I like it too, but be careful & play around with it ... It seems to not feather/fade to black as well as some, so it can look cheesy if it's put on too strong.

Agreed. Any effect, if overdone, will look horrendously cheesy. Just look at a public access show if you don't believe me.
