I must say this has me intrigued. At first, I was a little bewildered at the choice of Robert Downy Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson. Seemed it should have been the other way 'round.

But, Guy Ritche seems to know his stuff thus far, and whilst RDJ does not at all possess the physical attributes of Holmes, I can absolutely see him pulling it off.

Goes without saying if they keep the Cocaine use intact as per Sir Arthur's original use of it with Holmes, Downy would be even more a natural. (ha!)

THe cast looks pretty good as well. Let's hope this one comes out as good as it's potential leads it. A nice dark and somewhat grizzly 19th century murder mystery with Sherlock would simply kick ass.

there are two Sherlock Holmes feature films in development - both this one by Guy Ritchie and a second one starring Will Ferrell and Sasha Baron Cohen.

Both the Downey Jr AND the Sasha Baron Cohen films are NOT ACCURATE to the literary character. Both films are designed to be comedies - the Downey version is a swash-buckling, Pirates of the Caribbean style adventure, the Sasha Baron Cohen one is more in the lines of Billy Wilder's "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes".

So yeah - no proper, respectable, Holmes feature film has surfaced as yet!

As much as I like Downey Jr., I'm thinking Ralph Fiennes would be the perfect actor to pull off Sherlock. As for Watson, take a look at this.

"Please do not inline Project Gutenberg images..." Busted you they did!

And did I just channel Yoda or what?

haha :D

Here's the pic of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle:

Would he be a perfect Watson, or what?
