shelf life of a camera

how many hours of use before a DVX (or any camera really) is caput?

please do not preface your answer with 'it depends' or I will kill you.

It has life until someone puts it away... :cheesy:

I used to hear 1000 hours but recently I've heard 3K. Not sure if anyone knows for sure. I have only heard of a very few head burn outs so who can say... We could be regaling with "I have 5000 hours... Still ticken'" stories one day.

Even if the heads wear out, they can be replaced.

A decent camera like the DVX has a very very long life if maintained and not abused.

BTW, "shelf life" actually means how long can it sit on an actual shelf *unused* and still be expected to fire up when taken off that shelf.

With normal use, And if you do not abuse the camera, Or any other piece of equipment, it will last until it's original specs are no longer accepted becouse of beter specs in new cameras.

Many Sony VX-1000 owners like its image over new cameras, And it works perfectly.

That’s pretty interesting. I’ve hear the first thing to go is the heads- but with proper maintenance there is no way it shouldn’t last you maybe 5 to 10 years of moderate use before anything major happens.
