I just saw Shaun of the Dead last night at the premiere in Phoenix. The director and two main cast members were on hand to discuss the film and answer questions.
I have a full review that will probably be posted on Ain't It Cool later on so I'll link to it then. All I can say is that it's a GREAT film... Very, very funny!
I agree! Saw the movie a couple of weekends ago at the Atlanta preview screening and loved every minute of it! I also got to meet Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost!
The film is entertaining as hell.....yet has an eerie vibe about it.
I laughed a lot and this isn't one of those "british humor" things....
It has all the good elements for a comedy and remain original.
Obviously being a spoof on a horror it is dark, but that just adds to the cohesiveness of the film.
I recommend seeing this because it is great entertainment and its a spoof without going over the top and making it stupid like the Scary Movie series.
I checked this out at a Matinee today and let me say I had no idea what to expect.
I loved it. I reccomend this. This film is so different than anything out there. Kabz
is correct; there is some errie vibe to this film. It's funny but not neccesarily in a CLOWN way but in a different way. ITs a smart film and there a lots of things going on visually and verbally. This is a great addition to the genre and if you think you might go see Resident Evil; DONT! GO see thsi instead.
The lead is a great and the cast is top notch. Something kind of cool about this film and most surely will be a cult classic for years to come.
Yeah, this movie was a horror AND a comedy... truly spanned both genres quite clearly... it took itself seriously in the film, yet had elements that were hilarious. It's hard to describe exactly what it was like...
I suppose along the lines of Evil Dead and Army of Darkness style. It's bad, but not bad... i think this movie got a lot of its inspiration from the Evil Dead series surprisingly. I noticed some elements in it that were very reminiscent of Raimi style directing....
Just saw it last night!
the funniest film I have seen in a loooong time, even funnier than Napoleon Dynamite . I almost passed out from laughing in some scenes, such as when Shaun's group runs into another group of guys escaping that looked exactly like them.
I love British comedies. I hear Simon Pegg's(shaun) BBC sitcom "Spaced"is funny as hell too. gotta buy "the Young Ones"DVDs too. Anybody into "the Young Ones"?

I wonder if that was influenced by that Seinfeld episode where Elaine hangs out with the three other guys...
I can't think of any move or show were it happened before that...

I love the Young Ones! Picked up the DVD with every "STOOPID" episode. It's a great set and really worth the $40 price tag...
